Gold Star Gamers is a 501(c)(3) military community–serving nonprofit dedicated to supporting children who have lost a military or veteran parent. Through gaming, mentorship, and community, we help them find hope, healing, and connection. We create meaningful spaces where play becomes a bridge to confidence, resilience, and belonging.

Our mission is to help kids who have suffered the loss of a military parent find hope and healing through gaming.

When a child loses a parent who served, their world changes forever. Confidence can fade, and loneliness often follows. Without the right support, many struggle to stay connected and thrive. Gold Star Gamers helps them rebuild what was lost—community, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

Our programs meet kids where they already feel at home — in the world of gaming. What once connected families across deployments now helps children rebuild trust, self-esteem, and community. Through mentorship, esports camps, tournaments, and shared online spaces, we give them opportunities to connect, learn, and grow. Each experience is designed to foster belonging, creativity, and resilience — helping them heal and rediscover joy through play.

We remind them that they are not forgotten — that their dreams, their stories, and their futures still matter. Together, we’re building a community where hope lives on and play becomes a path forward.

Gold Star Gamers transforms the healing power of gaming into a pathway for growth, confidence, and connection for children who have lost a military parent. Through structured programs, mentorship, and community engagement, we help these kids rediscover who they are beyond their grief — strong, capable, and never forgotten.

Our initiatives are designed to meet them where they are: in the worlds they already know and love.

Competitive Gaming & Esports Experiences:We create inclusive tournaments and events where Gold Star kids can play, learn, and compete alongside peers, professionals, and supportive streamers — celebrating teamwork, skill, and fun.
Mission Pillar: Confidence
Mentorship Program: Veterans and gamers get matched with kids for one-on-one virtual mentorship. Pairs can also participate in community activities together, forming bonds that serve as a living reminder that no child walks this journey alone.
Mission Pillar: Connection
Peer Support: Our 24/7 moderated Discord provides peer support through trained mentors, safety bots, games, activity coordinators, volunteers, and multiple community channels. Kids find a safe, engaging space to connect and grow together.
Mission Pillar: Resilience
Career & STEM Lab: Focused on computer science, STEM, and gaming, we help kids build skills, education, and career pathways. From Discord homework help to coding classes, internships, and studio or college tours, we provide hands-on workshops in coding, design, streaming, and storytelling.

Healing & Wellness: We offer gaming-inspired activities, mindfulness exercises, and practical coping tools to support mental health, physical wellness, and boost confidence — nurturing the whole child and helping them level up in life.

WHY IT MATTERS

The mission doesn’t end with their service. It continues with us.

Since 9/11, more than 150,000 children in the U.S. have lost a parent who served in the military. For these kids, loss is more than the absence of a parent — it disrupts their world, their routines, and the sense of safety they once knew.

For many, gaming was more than a pastime. It was a way to share laughter, teamwork, and time together, even across long deployments. When that parent is gone, the same games can become a bridge — a way to hold on to memories, rebuild community, and find hope amid grief.

At Gold Star Gamers, we transform play into a lifeline. Our programs create spaces where kids can rediscover joy, form meaningful friendships, and reclaim moments of confidence that grief had taken from them. Through mentorship, esports, peer support, and STEM experiences, we help children grow beyond their loss — strong, capable, and never alone.

Every tournament, coding class, and supportive conversation reminds these kids that their stories matter, their dreams matter, and their futures are worth building.
